What is a true friend? by Cardinal

“What is a true friend?” I asked my mother one evening.

She looked at me and smiled, and then she said, “Someone who makes you better than you are alone.”

“But what if you can’t be better?”

“That is impossible my dear, now off to bed.” I sighed, a little bit unhappy with my answer.

The next day, I went to school, and during recess asked my best friend what a true friend is. She looked at me, and then smiled.

“Why, the perfect example would be you and me.” I thought about that and smiled. I thought that was a decent answer.

While our friendship wasn't perfect, we still were good friends. Occasionally, we would fight about something, but we would always make up, and laugh about it afterwards.

That evening, I thought about something. Is a true friend somebody who is always there for you? Or somebody who makes you better than you are alone? Or somebody who cares?

Suddenly, for who knows why, I laughed. All friends should care, and always be there for you. You are always better with friends than you are alone, so that still leaves one question.

Why shouldn't all your friends be true friends?

An Adventure In Doodling by Cardinal

I’m bored this cool winter evening
I’m tired of the books I’m reading
So I bring out paper and pencil
And doodle a small icicle
Then I shape the next thing I think
Which happens to be a bottle of ink
After that a kingdom and a king
Covered head to toe with shiny bling
And every king needs a queen
With a princess short and stubby
Definitely not tall and lean
A woman lost deep in the dark woods
She wishes to get out of this fear
Ah, if only she could hear
I continue onward with my plan
A map is made to hold in my hand
Finally I hear the clock
After I finish my poodle
It’s an hour past bedtime already?
Well, it’s sure fun to doodle!

Why did he go? by Cardinal

I looked into his eyes
Quickly gone from blue to gray
His breath shallow
His heart slow
I looked at him with my eyes
Full of tears
He looked up at me
He smiled and then left
Why, oh why did he go?

Where I am from... Poem by Cardinal

I’m from the small beige house
                              On the oval street.
I’m from the green hills with
                              Many trees.
                              I’m from reading, playing games,
                              And family time.
                              I’m from the responsibility
                              For my little sister.
                              I’m from the busy family,
                              Going everywhere.
I’m from the evil panda king,
                              A very funny father.
                              I’m from the panda theory,
                              And the blue, blue, blue!
                              I’m from many flowers,
                              Well, mostly just grass.
                               I’m from Dani, James,
                               And little L.
                               I’m from my own world,
                               Visiting it ever so often.
                                I’m from great friends,
                                And the ladybug tribe.
                                I’m from a life,
                                That I couldn’t live better.

The Dragon of Water

Once upon a time there was a very beautiful stream. In this stream lived the dragon of water. Every day the dragon went to the village near her stream and filled the well. One day she saw a jade dragon burning the village down. She was able to delay the jade dragon and the wizards fought the jade dragon then turned the jade dragon into a statue. While the villagers cheered for the wizards, the dragon filled the well and went back to her stream.

Halloween

Lightening flashed
Thunder crashed
The devils from hell
awake from their cells.
Ghosts say boo
but not who.
This very night
I lie in fright.

My Family

I love my family more than anything.
My daddy makes me laugh.
My little sister too.
My mommy helps me when I'm feeling sad.
I love my family and they love me back.

Fairy Friends

I make fairy houses for my little fairy friends.
I leave food and gifts to make them smile.
I wish I could find their fairy ring,
I haven't found it yet.
But I will someday.

Tea Party

I love to sit and drink my tea.
Scones and sweets make me happy.
The sandwiches are fun to eat.
But the sweets are my favorite treat!
And the best part of the party fare
are the friends who come to share!

If I were a cat...

If I were a cat, I'd stalk some prey,
then I'd play the rest of the day.
My eye would be green, my fur would be black.
When I see mice, I Attack!

Garden

I like to plant some little seeds.
Then I watch them sprout.
I water them everyday,
making sure they get enough sun.
And the final day comes
and I watch them bloom.
